First Impression: Nescafé Memento Instant Specialty Coffee

Recently I received two single samples of  Nescafé Memento in cappuccino and mocha and I will have to admit I didn't have high hopes for this product. A few years ago I worked at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in their café and I went through all the training required to make all of Starbucks specialty drinks. So I do have a little inside knowledge on how to make a perfect cappuccino. I decided that the easiest way for me was to just use my Keurig instant brewer in the largest setting. I followed the directions on the back of the memento packet and emptied the contents into my mug. I lifted up the handle as if I was going to insert a K-cup and then shut it. After doing that I hit the large setting seeing how the preparation steps said to add at least 8oz of hot water. I watched it brew and it started to foam instantly! I rotated the cup letting the dry powder evenly get wet. When it was all full I took a regular spoon and as directed I mixed what hadn't dissolved yet.

First thing that shocked me was how it foamed up so quickly. It had a bitter espresso taste (cappuccino) not to sweetened like some of the K-cup cappuccinos can be.There was a good amount of coffee with just the right amount of foam which I enjoyed. The only negative thing I can think of was that once I started to get towards the middle of my coffee I stumbled upon some random clumps of the mixture. In the beginning I made sure to stir the contents until they were all dissolved so I couldn't figure out what had happened?

All in all I loved this product and I think that I will pick up the caramel latte one to try out. One thing I didn't check out was if Keurig had this product in a K-cup form?? That would be amazing if it was! Hope you all enjoyed this first impression blog on the NEW Nescafé Memento line -Tess
